" I have often been asked why I only paint on black backgrounds. I feel that cutesy backgrounds and
splashes of color, only detract from them subject of the painting. 
It's like wearing black in the show ring,
you want the dog to be seen . Hence, I paint on black. "

A Tribute to Thriller commissioned by Tonia Holibaugh
Tonia donated this to the AMA Rescue at the 2006 Specialty.
It was raffled as a fund raiser.

" His existence and presence served as an inspiration to me as an artist
and in my personal aspirations and goals."
